New Nisga'a home
At one time the Kwinitsa rail foreman's house stood between Terrace and Prince Rupert. Now it sits along the grand trunk pathway and has undergone a complete transformation with offices and an ice cream parlour.
The grand opening of the Kwinitsa House also marks an important day for the Nisga'a people. The renovated building will mean a permanent Nisgaa presence on Tsimshian territory. The building will house the Nisga'a Tourism Group and Nisga'a Office Solutions.
"Since 2000 after the Nisga'a treaty was signed we said we wanted to be part of mainstream society not just politically but also economically." said former Nisga'a president Joe Gosnell.
Nisga'a Tourism has launched three different day tours of the nass valley for this summer. The new offices mean greater visibility and a home base for the tours in Terrace.
