Mount Milligan Advances

Terrane Metals' largest stakeholder Goldcorp has given the Mount Milligan project northeast of Smithers a stamp of approval.

Goldcorp has gone over the project and its board of directors has given Terrane Metals approval to purchase some of the equipment needed for the project.

Spokesperson Glen Wonders says thtat means orders can be placed for some of the critical mill items which take up to 40 months for delivery in order to facilitate construction if the project is approved.

The company says the open-pit copper and gold mine would cost about $917- million to build and has a forecast life of about 15 years.

Mount Milligan is located close to existing infrastructure, including access to power.

The project is currently working its way through the province's environmental assessment process.
