Flood Worries Rise With Temperatures
The next three weeks will tell the tale, as to whether or not the northwest is in for spring flooding once again. That's the prediction of emergency officials who say this year's mountain snowmelt has started about two weeks late. Weeber also warns that rivers are flowing very fast right now -- so keep away from riverbanks.
River levels came up more than a meter over the weekend, with the Skeena Monitoring Station at Usk registering a level of 8.9 meters as of 3pm this afternoon. And Fire Chief Peter Weeber says a continued spell of warm weather will likely keep the pressure on.
